Russians destroy Kakhovka Dam to slow down Ukrainian counter-offensive

Russian soldiers had mined the Kakhovka dam on the Dnipro River in southern occupied Ukraine since the start of the invasion in February 2022, as early as October when Ukrainian troops approached the city of Kherson – which is very close.

It was thought they would blow it up as a last resort to slow their advance before they cleared the river and advanced south.
