Venezuelan Prosecutor Accuses International Media of Smear Campaign
Venezuelan prosecutor Tarek William Saab has spoken out against international media, accusing them of promoting a smear campaign against the country. Specifically, Saab has pointed to alleged planned attacks against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro as a focal point of this campaign.
According to Saab, foreign media outlets have been distorting the actions of the Venezuelan State and spreading falsehoods that suggest forced disappearances, insinuating a conspiracy against them. “I find it disgusting that every time the Venezuelan State acts, the international media that seem like public facades of conspiratorial plans bring up the figure of forced disappearance,” Saab stated.
Additionally, Saab highlighted the involvement of certain NGOs, which he described as “mercenary,” in spreading this information on social networks. He also mentioned that there have been five attempted coups against Maduro, emphasizing the ongoing threats to political stability in Venezuela.
The Venezuelan Public Ministry echoed Saab’s statements on their Twitter account, further drawing attention to the prosecutor’s concerns about the misleading portrayal of Venezuela in the international media.
