A suicide bomber in a car bomb blew himself up in front of the Nuur Doob hotel in Jowhar, 90 kilometers north of the Somali capital, frequented by the authorities of Mogadishu. Dozens of victims are feared. In particular, at the time of the attack, the Hiirshabeele regional leaders were inside the structure. The al-Shabab terrorist group, linked to al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the action by speaking of several victims. Among the wounded two ministers, the former president of the Parliament of Hirshabelle and several state parliamentarians. The blast caused extensive material damage to the plant and surrounding buildings, according to images broadcast by Somali National Television.

Jowhar, the administrative capital of the state of Hirshabelle, is located 90 kilometers north of the capital Mogadishu. Eyewitnesses said the blast hit nearby buildings.
