Title: Mainland Chinese Teachers and Students to Visit Taiwan for Exchanges
Today, Chen Binhua, spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, addressed reporters’ queries regarding the upcoming visit of a delegation from mainland China to Taiwan.
In response to the question, it was confirmed that Hao Ping, Secretary of the Party Committee of Peking University, will be leading a delegation for exchanges in Taiwan in the near future. The visit is a result of discussions that took place during Mr. Ma Ying-jeou’s trip to mainland China earlier this year, where he expressed the desire for teachers and students from mainland universities to also visit Taiwan.
At the invitation of the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation for Culture and Education, Comrade Hao Ping will lead a group of 36 teachers and students from five prominent mainland universities, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Wuhan University, and Hunan University. The delegation is scheduled to visit Taiwan from July 15 to 23. During their stay, they will engage with universities such as National Taiwan University, National Chengchi University, Chinese Culture University, and Donghua University. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to explore cities such as Taipei, Taichung, New Taipei, Hsinchu, and Hualien.
This visit is significant as it marks the first time in over three years that a mainland Chinese university is organizing a delegation to Taiwan for exchanges. The visit holds positive implications for promoting the resumption of two-way exchanges between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait. Emphasizing the importance of this visit, the spokesperson encouraged and supported young people from both sides of the Strait to strengthen exchanges, foster mutual understanding, and learn from one another. By engaging in such exchanges, it is believed that a brighter future can be created collectively.
