[Epoch Times October 21, 2021](Epoch Times UK reporter station report) This Tuesday (October 19) British Prime Minister Johnson announced the latest environmental protection plan of the British government, hoping to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050 . The UK will host the COP26 Global Climate Summit in the near future.

The UK had previously promised to reduce carbon emissions to the level of the 1990s. In 2019, Britain’s emissions were 40% lower than in 1990.

The promotion of electric vehicles is a major part of the environmental protection plan. The UK plans to ban the sale of new fuel vehicles in 2030.

The UK also plans to reduce emissions from 30 million buildings, and will provide subsidies of up to £5,000 for homeowners who install low-emission heat pumps. The UK plans to no longer sell new gas-based water heaters from 2035. ◇
