The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China reiterated that Taiwan is Taiwan and is not part of the CCP. The CCP has not ruled Taiwan a day and has no right to represent the Taiwan people internationally. Only Taiwan’s democratically elected government can represent Taiwan’s 23.5 million people in international organizations and regional economic and trade mechanisms. .
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the government of the Republic of China applied to join the CPTPP on behalf of the people of Taiwan, and the CCP government has no right to speak up. Moreover, the CCP is not only a member of the CPTPP, but its trading system is widely questioned by the international community that it does not meet the high standards of the CPTPP.
“The Chinese (Communist) government only wants to bully Taiwan in the international community, which is the prime culprit for the increase in cross-strait hostility. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that the leaders of the Chinese Communist Party declared in the United Nations that “we did not in the past, and we will not invade or bully others, or claim hegemony.” Within a few hours, the Chinese Communist government publicly suppressed Taiwan when it applied for the CPTPP. , And threatened the people of Taiwan with massive air force.
The Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China released the news of the CCP’s military aircraft in the “Real-time Military Updates” section of its official website. On the 23rd, the CCP sent 24 aircraft to disrupt the station, including 14 F-16s, 2 Y-8 anti-submarine aircraft, 2 H-6s, and 1 Y-8Y. External participation in any regional economic cooperation and agreement negotiations is Taiwan’s existing international rights. No country or anyone has the right to interfere or dismiss it.”
The MAC pointed out that the Chinese Communist Party has long been operating the political framework of the “one China” principle internationally by arrogant means, trying to dwarf Taiwan and prevent Taiwan from participating in international economic organizations or agreements, only highlighting the use of the strong to bully the weak, regardless of the existing international organizations. The rules of the People’s Republic of China will not only hurt the feelings of the people of Taiwan, but will not help the positive development of cross-strait relations, and will not receive the universal support of international democratic and free countries.
The MAC said that the ROC government’s promotion of joining the CPTPP is to strengthen economic and trade links with regional countries and enhance Taiwan’s economic vitality and competitiveness. Taiwan has formally applied to join the CPTPP on September 22, and relevant countries have also expressed their welcome.
President Tsai Ing-wen of the Republic of China stated on Facebook on the 22nd that Taiwan’s application to join the CPTPP is a key step in the active deployment of the Asia-Pacific region’s economic integration and global free trade. Regardless of the economic, social, and legal aspects, Taiwan is ready to apply to join the CPTPP at this moment.
The MAC said that President Tsai Ing-wen said that CPTPP has Taiwan, not only has more influence, but also can make more contributions to high-quality global free trade.
The government will actively promote economic and trade cooperation with other countries with similar ideas, enhance the pattern and diversity of Taiwan’s foreign economy, and explain to the outside that the political demands of the CCP are not in line with international economic and trade realities, so as to continue to win international support.
The MAC stated, “We call on the Beijing authorities to face up to the cross-strait realities, to properly implement the necessary regulatory and institutional reforms and adjustments to join the regional economic integration, to enhance fair economic and trade and mutually beneficial cooperation, and to abandon hostile and confrontational thinking, and stop unreasonable suppression of Taiwan. And irrational political actions can really help the co-prosperity and development of the Asia-Pacific region’s economy.”
