The Constant Threat “Lost in Time” (2024)

From Donosti, this new band is presented, in a quartet formation, with members with past in groups such as Las Furias, Fire Cult, Virüs, or Madelaine, among others. La Menaza Constant debuts with an EP composed of four songs in Spanish. Songs with long and worked developments, which move between pop and rock with a love for eighties melodies, but without giving up more current sounds.

“Perder el tiempo” is the opening song, and it frenetically shows the band’s love for post-punk sounds, with melodies that are supported by dark lyrics, which shows one of the sides of the band, and which has its continuation with “The constant threat”, where the main riff is supported by ever-present choruses that rock the listener, introducing them to the second part of the album.

A final part, where we find the brightest moments of this work, when the band exploits its most rock-oriented vein, first in the rabid “The Offensive of the Dead”, where again, we once again highlight those second voices that give more packaging to the harmonic and vocal part, without a doubt one of the band’s strong points.

It is curious how the sound of the EP becomes muddied, without a doubt, to show us the different edges of the group, evolving from the clarity and brilliance of the first two songs, until concluding with the absolute dirt of an authentic song like “If you want you can come back”, with which they shelve this first commitment from a band that, for sure, we will continue talking about.
