According to the Central News Agency, the European Parliament’s “Special Committee for Foreign Intervention in EU Democratic Procedures” (INGE) decided in October to send a delegation to visit Taiwan. They arrived in Taiwan on the morning of November 3 for a few days of visit. The trip included 7 members and assistants. There are more than ten personnel in the group, and the large array came to Taiwan to exchange experience in identifying and resisting false information attacks.

One of the members of the delegation, the Greek member of the European People’s Party group, Georgios Kyrtsos, issued a document confirming that he had taken a flight to Taiwan, stating that this trip was an official mission and mentioning strict compliance with COVID-19 (Chinese Communist Party virus) epidemic prevention rule.

Following the recent launch of an official delegation from the French Senate to visit Taiwan, the European Parliament specifically stated to the Central News Agency that no official delegation from the European Parliament has visited Taiwan before. The “Special Committee for Foreign Intervention in the Democratic Procedures of the EU” is a non-permanent “special committee” of the European Parliament. It officially operated in September 2020.
