China News Agency, Bangkok, June 13 (Reporter Wang Guoan) Thai Prime Minister Prayut published a message on his personal social page on the evening of the 12th local time, announcing that the ban on five types of places in Bangkok will be lifted from the 14th of this month. In addition, continue to promote “Sandbox” plan, Phuket will take the lead in reopening to receive foreign tourists on July 1.
Prayut said that the government needs to work hard to strike a balance between the prevention and control of the new crown pneumonia epidemic and economic development. After multiple evaluations and consultations, the Thai government decided to lift the ban on five types of places in the capital Bangkok, including various museums, parks/botanical gardens, beauty clinics, health massage places (only foot massages are allowed), nail salons/tattoo shops, etc.
He said that the Bangkok City Government will subsequently release an annex to announce the epidemic prevention measures for these five types of places. If the above premises do not strictly comply with the epidemic prevention regulations, they will be ordered to close.
Prayut pointed out that the “Phuket Sandbox” program was established for foreign tourists to travel in Thailand without isolation, and aims to help Thailand’s tourism industry recover. Currently, Phuket Province is preparing for the reopening to welcome foreign tourists. As of the 12th, more than 70% of the population in Phuket has been vaccinated with at least one dose of the new crown vaccine, of which 100% of tourism practitioners have been vaccinated.
According to the plan, Phuket will be open to international tourists who have been fully vaccinated with the new crown vaccine approved by the World Health Organization from July 1. After entering Phuket, tourists must stay there for at least 14 days before they can travel to other parts of Thailand. During this period, the local government will conduct inspections and itinerary tracking for tourists in accordance with epidemic prevention requirements.
Prayut stated that the “Phuket Sandbox” plan has passed the review by the Thailand Economic Situation Management Center and has been initially confirmed by the Thai Cabinet. The next step will be to refine the details to obtain official approval from the Cabinet. (Finish)
