People’s Daily Online, Tokyo, June 17. According to the “Asahi Shimbun” report, the 167th Akutagawa Award and Naoki Award sponsored by the Japan Literature Promotion Association recently announced the list of candidate works. All five candidates for this year’s Akutagawa Prize are women.
Previously, at the 161st selection event held in 2019, there were cases where all Naoki Award candidates were women, but this year’s Akutagawa Award candidates are all female authors for the first time.
It is reported that the selection meeting will be held on July 20, when the list of winners will be announced.
Below is the list of candidates and their works for the 167th Akutagawa Prize and Naoki Prize:
Akutagawa Prize candidates and works:Chito Osawakawa “Miners for Family Use”; Ryomi Suzuki “Gifted”; Hayako Takase “For Delicious Rice”; Nian Mori “N/A”; Hiroka Yamashita “akutee”
