According to reports, the US Navy will dispatch the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson and the cruiser USS Lake Champlain and the destroyer USS Stockdale this time. The Indian Navy will dispatch the “Rajput” class destroyer Lanvijay, the stealth frigate Satpra, the P8I maritime anti-submarine patrol aircraft and a submarine. The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force will deploy the Kaga helicopter carrier and the Murasame destroyer. Australia only sent two frigates.

A spokesman for the Indian Navy said that the second phase of the exercise will focus on advanced waterborne anti-submarine warfare, navigational technology improvement, and weapon shooting exercises based on the coordination and interoperability of the first phase. The first phase of the “Malabar 2021” joint exercise was held on August 26 in the Philippine waters near Guam.
