New York – The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has confirmed that the remains found in the state of Wyoming are those of Gabrielle “Gabby” Petito, the 22-year-old girl who was reported missing earlier this month on a trip with her boyfriend.
The FBI office in Denver, Colorado, said the Teton County coroner’s initial assessment should be a homicide, but the ultimate cause of death has yet to be ascertained by autopsy. The FBI announcement comes as authorities continue to search for Brian Laundrie, Petito’s boyfriend, who was last seen by his parents last week.
The two had left New York for a trip to the western US states. Petito, a blogger, was last seen on August 24, walking away from a hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah.
