Max Verstappen returned to winning ways after finishing ahead at Formula 1 Japanese GP 2024. Sergio Perez completed a double podium for Red Bull Racing, and Carlos Sainz returned to the podium to complete the top three.

Taking place in Suzuka, Sunday (7/4), the race immediately brought drama on the first lap. Daniel Ricciardo and Alexander Albon’s brush at turn two made the first name hit the barrier until the red flag was raised. Race break for about half an hour.

After the restart, Verstappen, who started the race from pole position, continued to maintain his lead until the 17th lap. He then pitted and returned to the track in third position behind Charles Leclerc and George Russell.

However, it didn’t take long for Verstappen to overtake Russell and Leclerc. On the 21st lap, he was back at the forefront. His teammate, Perez was in second place from the 26th lap after overtaking Charles Leclerc who went wide.

On the 33rd lap, Perez entered the pit to change tires to hard. He returned to the track in fifth position. Verstappen followed suit two laps later and returned to the track in second place, behind Carlos Sainz who took over on the front row.

On the 37th lap, positions 1-2 were again occupied by Verstappen and Perez. Sainz dropped to seventh position after entering the pit to change to hard tires. While the top two looked stable and difficult to catch, the battle for third place was fierce.

On lap 45, Leclerc, who was in third position, was under pressure from Sainz, who had successfully moved up three positions and had fresher tires. One lap later, Sainz managed to overtake Leclerc to take third place.

The top three on the podium remained until the finish. Leclerc had to settle for staying in fourth place, followed by Lando Norris and Fernando Alonso in positions 5-6. Russell overtook Oscar Piastri on the last lap to secure seventh position. Lewis Hamilton and Yuki Tsunoda complete the top 10 in the points zone.
