This last Sunday (28), Coritiba hosted Operário at Couto Pereira and won 4-0. Despite the rout that put Coxa in the lead of Paranaense, one of the most debated topics was a question for Guto in his press conference about the goalkeeper Gabriel Vasconcelos.
Questioned by reporter Rogerio Scarione, Guto Ferreira confirmed that the goalkeeper was not listed for this Sunday’s duel as he asked not to defend because he feels emotionally unprepared for this commitment. Guto gave his version of the story and took the opportunity to give a message to all Coxa players.
“He felt pressured by the moment, he came to us and said he didn’t feel emotionally ready to play and left training to talk to the management, now the rest is up to the management. Now, he’s going to be here, he’s going to play here, whoever wants to to be here, who wants to be part of this project. Those who doubt, I’m sure they will be losing, up front they will regret having jumped ship, but for us to reach the goal we cannot have people with doubts, we need those who are sure that this project will bring the club everything we want.”
Gabriel Vasconcelos’ future is now in the hands of the board, but it appears that the goalkeeper should no longer defend Coxa. It is worth remembering that at the beginning of the year, the athlete was interviewed by other Brazilian teams, one of them being América-MG, but the player remained at Coritiba.

Gabriel arrived at Coritiba in mid-2022, at a time when Coxa was experiencing a crisis in the goalkeeping position and needed a solution in the position to avoid relegation that season.
