CIVIDAL. A sudden, unpredictable and fulminating illness, on the morning of Monday 9 August, broke the very young life of the 13-year-old Gaia, the eldest daughter of Christian Bordon and his wife Antonella Cantone, well-known figures in Cividale for their role as real estate developers and for the family bond with the three Bordon brothers – Christian is the son of one of them, Franco -, well-known building contractors on the territory and linked to the ducal town, among other things, also by works of munificence.

Unfortunately, for the girl, rushed to the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital in Udine, there was unfortunately nothing to do. The news spread in a flash, in the city, also due to the arrival of an ambulance with sirens going to the historic center, where the family resides: the apprehension of the first moments was followed by the shocking acknowledgment of the drama, which plunged Cividale into a surreal atmosphere of bewilderment, consternation and silence.
The municipal administrators, who have dated and solid collaborative relationships with the Bordon family, are shocked: “I can’t find the words,” said Mayor Daniela Bernardi, struggling to hold back the emotion, addressing the 13-year-old’s parents and all family members ” the very strong embrace of the whole community “. “Their pain is ours,” he declares, recalling the very sad precedent of a mourning that struck the Bordon family a few years ago, when one of the two daughters of another of the three brothers, Natale, was missing.
“My heart is broken,” says the regional and municipal councilor Elia Miani, linked by an old friendship to Gaia’s parents, grandparents and uncles, of whom he recalls the great attention to the city: the three brothers had also financed, over the years past, the gilding of the upper part of the flagpole in Piazza Duomo, undergoing restoration.
