by admin

And in December 2021 the first edition of the Top 50 with the best athletes in the Boys and Students categories

Memorial Fosson doubles, grows further and realizes a dream that has remained in the drawer for a long time. Valle d’Aosta next winter will have a new event that will open the season of the Italian Children: the traditional team competition that will queue up and will become Italian Team Criterium. Two distinct events, always organized by the Aosta ski club in collaboration with the specialized Race ski magazine.

On 14 and 15 December 2021 the first edition of the “Top 50” will be staged, an individual comparison involving the best 50 athletes of the Boys and Students categories, invited on the basis of the rankings created by Race ski magazine that take into consideration all the most important events included in the national Fisi calendar (Alpe Cimbra, Pinocchio sui Sci, Italian Championships for the second year for Boys and the two of Allievi and Criterium Nazionale Cuccioli, International Ski Games and Pinocchio on Ski for Boys 1, just passed the category). We will compete in giant and slalom, in a Aosta Valley location that will be chosen later and which will rotate over the years. “Top 50” was born with the intention of immediately comparing the best Italian athletes after the months of summer preparation and just before entering the heart of the new competitive season.

The Memorial Fosson will close the season, fully confirming the innovative formula that has been successful since the first edition. It will take place in Pila from 9 to 11 April 2022, it will go after the winter and will become even more prestigious because it is recognized by the Fisi as a Criterium Italiano for teams. He will therefore award medals to the best clubs in Italy. There will be no more races valid also for the individual, all the tests will be used to determine the ranking of the best sports clubs and Regional Committees. An idea that ski club Aosta and Race Ski Magazine had for some time and that has become a reality thanks to the great collaboration with the Italian Winter Sports Federation which at the end of July presented the initiative to the National Council, which has effectively entered the national calendars. . The rules have been revised and the team status has been redefined which will allow them to participate in the Memorial Fosson and compete for the title.

Massimo Raffaelli, Aosta ski club president: «The pandemic forced us to postpone the last edition of the Fosson Memorial several times. In the beginning we wanted to stay between December and January, we were not so convinced to bring it to the end of winter. Instead, listening to the opinions of the clubs, we understood that the choice made, with a bit of risk, was not so wrong. Many see the Fosson as an appointment different from all the others and as a great end-of-season party. So it was decided to continue on this new path, we dusted off the idea of making it become the Italian Championship and with the support and great willingness of the Federation we were able to take that step we had longed for. On the other hand, however, many clubs still asked for a comparison at the beginning of the season, which is important to understand the work done in the summer; so after some reflections we decided to double and double our events. We are ready for this new challenge, we have almost never stopped since April ».
