In the text addressed to Macron, entitled “For a return of the honor of our rulers”, the retired generals urge the president to “defend patriotism” and the values ​​of civilization against “Islamism and the hordes of the suburbs” and against the “disintegration” of France. And they fear the risk of a civil war: “It is no longer time to procrastinate, otherwise tomorrow the civil war will put an end to this growing chaos and the deaths, for which you will bear the responsibility, will number in the thousands”, reads the text.

The Minister of the Armed Forces, Florence Parly, commenting today on France Info, defined it as a text that “shocks” and “irresponsible”. The point, France Info points out on its website, is that the military is prohibited from expressing religious and political views.
