ALEXANDRIA. “It is not a pre-Covid Easter, but for us it is absolutely a discreet Easter”. To say it is Fabio Bergaglio, owner of Bodrato, in Novi Ligure, who a few days ago unveiled the new chocolate eggs.

It is a bit like discovering a fashion collection: the colors, the designs, the novelties, the tastes that are always combined in a new way, alongside the classic, traditional ones, amaze. Which must not be missing. Thanks to the online shop they are able to deliver throughout Italy. “In reality – explains Bergaglio – delivery is throughout Europe: we have also shipped to France and Spain in recent weeks”.

Alexandrian Easter eggs, therefore, make children and adults happy even at a distance of thousands of kilometers. «Every year we prepare about 40 thousand of them. Compared to last year we are doing well, because despite being almost in the red zone we have now taken the measures, which are not as restrictive as last year. Then you manage to have this great online sales opportunity, which always works and at the moment it is quite good ».

We had to innovate. Even if the company is almost eighty years old, it takes adaptability, especially in times of crisis and in unprecedented situations like this one of the pandemic. Bodrato has existed since 1943 and it all started from Luciano Bodrato’s workshop in Genoa, which was transformed in the 1970s by moving to Piedmont, in Capriata d’Orba, his hometown.

In 2001 the brothers Paola and Fabio Bergaglio arrive and this is the first real innovation. Then in 2014 there is the move to what they call “the capital of chocolate”: Novi Ligure.

Exactly as it happens for the main product of Easter. On the site you can immerse yourself in the variety: there is the polka dot egg, there is the “macchiato” one, the one dedicated to Mirò with colored chocolate pebbles and which is obviously inspired by the talent of the eclectic Spanish master. Then there are the rough hazelnut, the classic milk with various decorations (even a lemon tablecloth); the «Boero» egg which is dark and covered by hand with a mixture of chocolate and, inside, there are the Boers. The pistachio one is inspired by Sicily and is covered, always by hand, with a second layer of chocolate and grains, the “decorated” can weigh up to two kilos and is the one that most of all looks to tradition, with rabbits, swans, leaves and flowers that are painted over the shell. As if it were a painting.

There is also the «Fruits», the special gourmet egg decorated with orange and dehydrated strawberries and chopped pistachios for an explosion of aromas (and calories). It is the “Hawaii” that recalls the typical flowers of the isolated Pacific Ocean archipelago and helps to dream of faraway places. Obviously on the online shop you will not only find Easter products, but also hazelnuts, kisses, “Bodratini”, chocolate bars, spreads, pralines and much more. Everything can arrive at home, in a few days.
