UDINE. There will be 77 wineries in the Ersa collective that, from Sunday 10 to Wednesday 13 April, will represent our region – with a single promotion under the banner of the “I am Friuli Venezia Giulia” brand – at the 54th edition of Vinitaly.

The program of the four days at the Verona fair and the regional strategies were illustrated on the morning of Thursday 7 April, in Udine, by the regional councilors for agri-food, forest, fish and mountain resources, Stefano Zannier, and for productive activities and tourism, Sergio Emidio Bini, during a press conference at the headquarters of the Region.

«We are happy to return to Vinitaly in attendance – the two representatives of the Executive commented in unison – even if with limited space due to the pandemic wake, which forced us to bring 77 companies instead of the over one hundred producers we were used to. In any case, the objective was to give priority to the productive realities, giving up a part of the institutional spaces “.

As for the program, the queen of the Fvg stand will be Ribolla Gialla. Protagonist of various focuses and tastings, she will be presented to international buyers from Asia (Japan and South Korea), Great Britain, Central America (Mexico and Dominican Republic), Africa (Cameroon, Ethiopia, Angola) and the United States. «Ribolla Gialla is the symbolic wine of Friuli Venezia Giulia in which we find the characteristics of this Region: quality, capacity, unity. We will present the Ribolla as only this region can do or in a thousand different ways and all of excellence. There is an intimate union between the region and the presence of this vine which determines its identity. Some steps related to the production regulations are missing but its promotion is going ahead with conviction », said Zannier.

Bini also returned to the concept of unity, highlighting that «when it comes to food and wine and tourism, one cannot but play as a team. I think that in recent years we have built an important system, for which also at Vinitaly we will talk about wine as well as gastronomic excellence starting from consortia such as Montasio, San Daniele, Tergeste oil ».

For the two councilors “the territory is our true and only added value and must be communicated in a unitary way.” Hence the strong collaboration with PromoTurismoFVG and the announcement, by the councilor Bini, of the will of the regional council to launch 2023 a major international event dedicated to wine around which to place niches of gastronomic excellence. “We don’t want to compete with Vinitaly, of course – Bini specified -, but to light up an international beacon on the peculiarities of our region starting from places and territories “.

In the meantime PromoTurismoFVG has launched a television marketing campaign with regional funds for 1.5 million euros aimed at promoting Friuli Venezia Giulia on the television schedules of the generalist channels Mediaset and Dazn.

The presentation was also attended by Adriano Gigante, president of the Consorzio delle Doc Fvg, who expressed optimism both on the holding data of the wine sector after two years of health crisis, and on the possibility of predicting a growth in food and wine tourism in the region, driven by integrity of the landscape and the variety of the territories, compatibly with the stability of the geo-political context.

Other details of the program concern the opening day with a tasting of Pinot bianco del Collio, while on the closing day two special presentations will be dedicated to the Tazzelenghe and the Top Vini Friuli Venezia Giulia guide. In the central days two special appointments: the first on Italo Cosmo, Homage to a protagonist of the ampelography of the twentieth century, man of science and popularization, passionate mountaineer, by ITAS Spilimbergo (Monday afternoon); the second on Dendrosurgery: a cure for bait pain. Ten years of experimentation and research between Italy and France (Tuesday afternoon).
