He is responsible for Apple’s cash balance, investment and capital return plan, and was once an established candidate to attend Apple’s quarterly conference call. Until retirement, the 62-year-old Whiffler reported to Apple CFO Luca Maestri (Luca Maestri).
Whiffler’s retirement marks the end of his long career. His career spanned the tenure of many Apple CEOs, even before Steve Jobs returned to the bankrupt Apple in 1997. Whiffler also assisted in the management of Apple’s US asset management subsidiary Braeburn Capital, and participated in Apple’s efforts in racial justice and affordable housing.
