CPU is abandoned by Apple MacBook Intel seeks to win M-series chip foundry orders-Intel, Samsung, TSMC, 5nm-Kuai Technology (Media of Drivehome)-Technology changes the future

by admin

Although Intel processors have been completely removed from Apple’s MacBook product line, the former seems to have found another opportunity to cooperate with Apple, that is, foundry.

According to the latest news,Samsung and Intel are trying to get M-series chip foundry orders from Apple. At present, M1, M1 Pro, and M1 Max are all based on TSMC’s 5nm process.

The main reason why Samsung and Intel think there is an opportunity is that the A14 and A15 processors themselves account for a large part of TSMC’s 5nm production capacity.

Samsung’s advantage is that the price is usually lower than TSMC, and 5nm is also mature for products such as Snapdragon 888. Intel does not actually have a nominal 5nm product, and it is not clear how it will cooperate with Apple. After all, even its own Xe GPU has to rely on TSMC processing.

Industry insiders close to TSMC pointed out that Apple’s next-generation Mac chips are more likely to continue to cooperate with TSMC. Of course, the “spoiler” between Samsung and Intel does not seem to be a bad thing, at least for Apple, and their interference may be possible. Improve Apple’s bargaining power.
