“Data centers are magnets for new investments”

The digitalization of the economy has probably been on the agenda for ten years. Has politics still not recognized the importance?
Politicians definitely have the topic of digitalization on their agenda – but that doesn’t mean that everyone has understood what exactly that means. Many political representatives lack the understanding that digitalization means more data centers – because all the data generated has to be stored and processed somewhere. That’s why we as an association are currently very busy informing both political decision-makers and the population about the topic. Even many young people do not understand that the functioning of their most important everyday companion, the smartphone, depends on well-running data centers; and that the same applies to the use of Netflix, Spotify & Co. That’s why we as an association like to say: The Internet lives in data centers.
