Henan Province Aims to Achieve 17 Million Tons of Recycled Metal Production Capacity by 2027
The Henan Provincial People’s Government has recently unveiled its ambitious plan to promote large-scale equipment updates and trade-ins of consumer goods in the region. The goal is to increase the scale of equipment investment in various sectors by more than 25% compared to 2023 and improve energy efficiency and environmental protection standards across industries.
The province aims to achieve a significant increase in the recycling volume of scrapped cars and used home appliances, as well as boost the production capacity of recycled metal to reach 17 million tons by 2027. This growth is expected to enhance the proportion of recycled materials in the resource supply chain and contribute to sustainable development efforts.
In line with this initiative, the government plans to implement a manufacturing technology transformation and upgrading project, focusing on promoting the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries. Key actions include promoting high-end, intelligent, and green development in sectors such as steel, non-ferrous metals, petrochemicals, and machinery.
Moreover, the plan emphasizes the need to accelerate the adoption of digital technologies and the industrial Internet, as well as promote the use of 5G technology to digitize and upgrade production processes. By fostering smart manufacturing practices and cultivating new business formats, Henan Province aims to enhance its industrial chain’s resilience and safety levels.
