The Meta subsidiary Facebook had challenged the requirement from the first judgment in 2022 to delete the defamatory lying messages everywhere on the platforms where they were spread. The company had retreated from having to delete lies only in those posts that were specifically reported to the company. With this position, Facebook had already been rejected by the Frankfurt regional court in April 2022, which had obliged the company not to simply delete individual, specifically reported posts. In addition, the company must also proactively remove all identical and slightly modified but essentially the same defamations from the internet, including those posts that were not explicitly reported again. The Higher Regional Court has now emphasized this view again.
How many judgments against Meta will it take before the company reacts?
