In the first half of 2021, the balance of real estate auctions in Italy closed with a negative 28.9% compared to 2019. Although the effects of Covid on the sector have eased, the peaks of the pre-pandemic era still seem distant. The trend emerged from a report made by REVIVA data scientists.

In particular, 93 thousand real estate auctions were registered in the first half of 2021: a growing figure compared to the previous year (the first half of 2020 had in fact concluded with only 48,333 auctions) and which bodes well for the future, but which still denotes a large decrease compared to the data of the same half of 2019, which instead recorded 131 thousand auctions.

The distance on the volume of business we are talking about is even more evident if we observe the decrease in economic value (i.e. the sum of the minimum bid of value to participate in the auction): 12 billion registered in 2021 against 16.3 in the 2019, confirming that not only property auctions have decreased, but the value of the properties involved has also collapsed.

Therefore, the brick is trying to restart, and with it the segment of judicial auctions. Even if the repercussions of Covid are evident and the recovery will inevitably have to pass through a series of crucial factors such as the streamlining of bureaucratic procedures, digitalization and a patient work of redevelopment of urban areas and buildings involved.
