Sony returns to the world of cars and does so with the new Vision S 02, presented at CES in Las Vegas scheduled from 5 to 8 January 2022. After the Vision S 01 presented at the previous edition of the Consumer Electronics Show, Sony is expanding its offered with a new 7-seater electric suv. If in the past Sony had announced that it did not want to produce cars but to create technologies related to the car, now the situation seems to have changed as evidenced by the birth of Sony Mobility, created to explore a possible entry into the electric vehicle segment.
Sony Vision S 02
In detail, the new Sony Vision S 02 is 4.9 meters long, 1.93 m wide, 1.65 m high and with a wheelbase of 3.03 meters which anticipates a generous space on board for the seven occupants. Aesthetically inspired by the Vision S 01, starting from the front LED lights, it gains a height from the ground of over 15 centimeters thanks to the air suspension. On board the entire dashboard is characterized by three screens from which to manage all the car’s functions and connectivity with 5G technology and Over the Air updates. Added to this are voice and gesture controls and a package of driving assistance systems with level 2 of autonomous driving and probably even higher.

On the powertrain front, the new Sony Vision S 02 is powered by two electric motors, one for each axle, thus ensuring all-wheel drive, capable of generating a maximum power of 272 horsepower. Compared to the sedan, the weight rises by 130 kg, reaching 2,480 kg, and the top speed drops to 180 km / h.
Bravia Core For Vision-S
The seat speakers, which create a three-dimensional sound field, and the streaming service compatible with “360 Reality Audio” offer a musical experience as if passengers are surrounded by a live performance by a favorite artist. Additionally, to deliver a high-quality cinematic experience, the new SUV includes the fully integrated “Bravia Core For Vision-S” digital video service. The service enables shared or individual video playback on the front wide screen and individual rear seat displays. By further extending the possibilities of in-vehicle entertainment, gaming capabilities have expanded to play PlayStation games via a remote connection to a console at home, as well as the ability to stream games through the cloud.
