The historic brands have a stamp that celebrates and brings these Made in Italy jewels into the world while the number of companies registered with the Association of Historic Brands of Italy has increased by 127% in the space of a year. The issuing ceremony and philatelic cancellation of the ordinary stamp belonging to the thematic series «The Excellences of the productive and economic system» dedicated to the Association took place in the presence of the minister Adolfo Urso (Mimit) who recalled «The historic brands enhance our entrepreneurial identity and this stamp, dedicated to the Association that represents them, is an important piece of our memory that fits perfectly into the strategy we are pursuing for the protection and promotion of the excellence of Made in Italy. Our vision is very precise and is based on three directions: identity, innovation and internationalisation. An example of this is the Made in Italy framework law: a historic provision that marks a turning point in the country’s industrial policy which aims to safeguard the productive identity of our supply chains and discourage delocalisation. We intervene at 360 degrees, stimulating and protecting the growth of national strategic supply chains, combating counterfeiting and training new skills in view of the global challenges we face. We are pursuing a serious policy to make Italian business stronger.”

The Historical Trademarks Association of Italy. the president is Massimo Caputi, it was founded in 2021 and, to date, it includes over 480 companies and more than 660 Historic Brands registered in the Uibm-Mimit Register, for a turnover of over 40 billion euros. «Among the ten historic companies still active worldwide, six are Italian and boast seven to ten centuries of history – recalls Massimo Caputi, President of the Historic Brands Association -. The Historic Brands are guardians of Italian industrial culture in the world: they constitute a heritage of excellence for our country, which must be protected, enhanced and promoted. We are proud to be here today, because this stamp, dedicated to the Historic Brands Association, is further testimony to the validity of the work we are doing in favor of businesses and the country.”

Since its foundation over a two-year period, the number of companies registered with the Association has increased rapidly and among the latest additions are those of Pernigotti and Walcor. Last May the stamps of centenary historical brands of national interest were issued: De Cecco, Cirio, Vismara, Santa Rosa and Ambrosoli. The exhibition «Identitalia – The Iconic Italian Brands» was inaugurated at Mimit in mid-February and will end on 6 April. In fact, the Association represents many companies registered in the Special Register of Historic Brands of National Interest, established by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy with the aim of tracing and valorising companies and brands active for more than 50 years in Italy. Registrants have grown by over 30% in a year, going from around 500 brands to over 660, for a total of 480 registered companies. Of the 50 affiliates of the Association, 21% are based in Lombardy, 15% in Emilia Romagna and 13% in Tuscany. The agri-food sector clearly prevails, constituting 40% of associated companies, followed immediately by the textile sector, 20%, and hospitality, 15%. The Association is pushing for the launch of new regulations in favor of Historic Brands which favor the consolidation of Italian brands in the world, the granting of tax breaks for the valorisation of Historic Brands, the optimization of the use of the Fund for the Protection of Historic Brands managed by Invitalia. Among the significant projects of the Association is the creation of Corporate Museums of Historic Brands, an immense heritage at the service of the new generations.
