SUVS are the most popular vehicle type of 2024 so far. According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) 28.9 percent of new cars registered by February 2024 are SUVs.

The most popular SUV models of the new year include: VW Tiguan* (first place), the VW T-Roc* (second place), and that Tesla Model Y* (third place). the Skoda Karoq* (third place). Fourth and fifth places go to Skoda Karoq* and the Mercedes-Benz GLC/GLK.

28.3 percent of the 430,941 new cars registered in Germany in 2024 are SUVs. There are also off-road vehicles at 12.7 percent. This makes SUVs and off-road vehicles by far the most popular vehicle type of the year 2024 – ahead of the compact class (19.8 percent) and small cars (11.4 percent). This emerges from statistics of all new registrations up to and including February 2024, compiled by the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA).

But which models are particularly in demand? This question can also be answered using the KBA statistics. The most popular model is the VW Tiguan, which was approved a total of 11,536 times up to and including February 2024. With 9217 new registrations it works second place to the VW T-Roc. Something behind on the The Tesla Model Y comes in third place with 7801 new registrations. The Shame on the Karoq (5799 new registrations) and the Mercedes-Benz GLC/GLK (4802 new registrations in total) complete this Top Five of the most popular SUVs of the new year.
