Accessible tourism is now just a click away. So the Roero is for everyone

by admin

A new web portal to make “Roero per tutti” become. This is the name of the project wanted by the Union of Municipalities of Riddone – with the centers of Corneliano and Piobesi d’Alba – to change the local tourist approach by paying particular attention to people with disabilities and their families.

In an area dedicated to tourism, where more and more individual realities want to equip themselves to become more inclusive, the idea is to collect all the information related to accessibility to make them convenient and just a click away. Developed by the synergy between StudioEco Architettura e Paesaggio of Alba, Treevision communication agency and IsItt, (i.e. the Italian Institute for tourism for all), with the support of the Ecomuseo delle Rocche, the initiative received support from 22 thousand euros from the Crc and Crt Foundations, in addition to the Union contribution of 3,800 euros.

«The portal will be developed following the key principles of perception, understanding, navigation, interaction and contribution that characterize Web Accessibility – explains the architect Silvana Pellerino of StudioEco -. “Roero for all” will be a tool capable of providing, to those who wish it, useful information to plan their trip or a simple trip out of town in complete serenity and avoid unpleasant unforeseen events. Addressing above all to people with different types of disabilities, motor, visual, auditory and cognitive, but also to the elderly, families with children, frail people. The idea is to include in the portal not only public goods and naturalistic realities, but also to give space to private individuals who are sensitive to the issue, who will thus be able to promote their activity and accessibility through dedicated technical data sheets “.

The service aims to signal much more than the classic indication of “absence of architectural barriers”. The goal, in fact, is to raise the quality of hospitality to meet various needs, from transport to museums, from accommodation to catering, routes, sport, culture, utility services. Giving everyone the opportunity to visit the Roero area in complete serenity and autonomy, checking accessibility in advance and thus planning the route according to their own aptitudes. Starting, for example, with the path network of the Roero Ecomuseum which, taking the S4 Roero-central path as a sample, is analyzing the practicability of its beautiful itineraries that wind through nature for over 100 kilometers along the ridge of the fortresses.

Among the starting activities linked to “Roero for all”, there is also a series of training initiatives organized by the Italian Institute for Tourism for All and aimed at operators in the local tourism sector, planners, municipal administrations, voluntary associations , guides and tour operators.
