An American mountaineer of Japanese origin died of a heart attack after reaching the summit of the mountain Aconcagua. This is the fourth fatality so far this season.
Skeete Kshamata, 49 years old, decompensated at midnight on Monday, January 29, when he was descending in the Piedras Blancas area, according to the Ministry of Security of Mendoza.

Kshamata had a doctorate in Medicine and was a specialist in hand orthopedics and sports medicine, and worked at CaroMonth Health and at Carolina Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center, in North Carolina, United States, according to official information.

On December 31, 2023, another North American climber, identified as Raúl Alexander Tarteradied after reaching the summit in the “La Cueva” area.
