Cillian Murphy Values His Commitment to Character
In a recent interview with “60 Minutes,” actor Matt Damon revealed that his “Oppenheimer” co-star Cillian Murphy is not the most pleasant dinner companion. According to Damon, Murphy’s total immersion in his roles leaves little room for anything else, making him the “worst dinner companion imaginable.”
In response to the comments, Murphy explained, “When you’re being the character, there’s very little room in your head for anything else.” The “Peaky Blinders” star emphasized the importance of keeping his lines fresh and devoting himself entirely to his roles while filming.
However, outside of work, Murphy enjoys going out with Damon and has had “lovely dinners” with him since completing their movie. Despite his dedication to his craft, Murphy also acknowledges the importance of rest and sleep. “You have to keep your lines fresh, sure. But you also need to sleep. I love sleep and I need sleep,” he said.
Despite his single-minded dedication to his work, it’s clear that Murphy is able to balance his professional commitments with the importance of relaxation and spending time with friends.
