The (almost) royal wedding you don’t expect, far from London and the Windsor family quarrels: Lady Kitty Spencer, 30, daughter of Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, she got married on Saturday in Rome, but it was a long weekend of celebrations for Kitty Spencer and her husband Michael Lewis, a South African entrepreneur, and for the 170 guests from the UK and beyond. A wedding that, like many, all over the world, was scheduled for 2020 and then by force majeure postponed to 2021. Among the guests, the English singer-songwriter Pixie Lott and (rumor of the eve), Elton John and Andrea Bocelli.

The wedding was held in Rome, in the sixteenth century Villa Aldobrandini, located in the Frascati area ( in the photo below, a glimpse of the building ) and was for centuries the secular home of popes, as well as an icon of the Renaissance. Wanted by Pietro Aldobrandini, nephew of Pope Clement VIII (born Ippolito Aldobrandini and lived between 1536 and 1605, 231st pope of the Catholic Church), in recent years the villa has been chosen, as well as for weddings and other events, by many directors as a set for films and television series.

The choice of clothes
For the entire weekend Lady Kitty Spencer chose to wear dresses from the Dolce & Gabbana Haute Couture collection, maison of which he is global ambassador. On Friday, to be precise, she wore a light blue tulle dress and cape embroidered with cross-stitch flowers, while at the altar she went with an inspired white lace dress Victorian (top photo). Then the change of dress: for dinner Kitty Spencer wore a hand-painted silk double organza garment embellished with flowers and crystals, while for the actual party she chose a cocktail dress completely embroidered with silver and gold beads . For the last meeting with the guests, today, the choice fell on a silk mikado dress embellished with small sequins, porcelain-effect flowers and double duchess ribbons.
The Dolce & Gabbana Haute Couture collection
The most exclusive clothes of the maison, in fact unique and tailor-made pieces, come from 2012 presented with ad hoc events throughout Italy. In 2019 Haute couture, Haute couture (men’s collections), high jewelery and watches were the protagonists of three days of events in Sicily; after the forced break of 2020, for 2021 it is the turn of Venice, with events scheduled from 28 to 30 August, on the eve of the Film Festival, which will begin on September 1st.
