by admin

The National Center for the Performing Arts Chorus in Beijing has launched its first choral season since its establishment, celebrating its upcoming 15th anniversary in 2024. The season, titled “The Voice of Harmony”, aims to summarize the choir’s past accumulation and sing reflections on the origin of choral art.

According to Jiao Miao, the resident conductor of the National Center for the Performing Arts Choir, the overall performance arrangement of the choral music season will showcase diverse integration and splendidness. The season will launch four series of themes based on the type and style of works: “National Rhythm and Dream”, “Joy with Music”, “Music from the Four Seas”, and “New Voice”, which respectively correspond to Chinese music, opera excerpts, world art songs, and modern music.

The “National Rhythm and Dream” series will pay tribute to the birthday of New China, marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The choir will collaborate with conductor Zheng Jian for the “Journey Cantabile” special concert, commemorating the 10th anniversary of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech at the 2014 Forum on Literature and Art Work.

The “Joy with Music” series will present an opera feast, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. The concert will feature French classic opera excerpts, showcasing the essence of French music.

“Joy from the Four Seas” will explore the treasures of the world, connecting the masterpieces of Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and Romantic choruses in a concert led by Lu Jia, the music and artistic director of the National Center for the Performing Arts.
