ROME – On Charge (On Electric Charge Mobility) is a start-up that is becoming the great outsider in the world of mobility and electrical infrastructures. It deals with bringing infrastructure and electric mobility to cities as well as to small towns, with tailor-made projects. A complete process ranging from authorizations, to installation, from training to the creation of dedicated software. It exploits both the wave of the PNRR and the great opportunities linked to the creation of energy communities in the area, proposing charging stations and multimodal, electric and integrated mobility, combined in a single solution available to the public administration and private individuals.
It is the only completely Italian company that does this since it provides the infrastructure, electric vehicles for sharing – cars, scooters and bicycles – but also a highly customizable application system, through which to recharge the vehicles and pay for the service and , at the same time, change the vehicle according to the needs, passing from motorbike to bicycle and so on.
That of On Charge is a story that comes from below. Its development plan started in Rome, where the company is based and where it was awarded three lots of installations for a total of 240 charging points. A further 240 charging points are being presented in the capital, for a total of 480 points. From Rome it then extended its field of action to the whole national territory. To achieve this, it makes use of Siemens technology, with which it has entered into a technological alliance for its charging infrastructures and the support of leading manufacturers, at the forefront in the field of electric mobility.
On Charge was born from the idea of the founder Micheli Gomes to develop an all-round sustainable mobility platform that allows the installation and implementation and management of mobility hubs: charging stations and electric vehicles for hire, managed by a single app. Thanks to its innovative offer, it is among the beneficiary partners of “Life for Silver Coast”, a pilot project funded by the European Commission with over 5 million euros for the development of alternative and sustainable mobility systems in the municipalities of Monte Argentario, Isola del Giglio and Orbetello.
On Charge has just signed a framework agreement with the most beautiful villages in Italy (there are more than 300 in Italy) to bring sharing mobility to small towns. The adhesions from the prestigious villages of our Peninsula are constantly growing. But it is also present in many other large and small cities, including popular holiday resorts. He is working on 36 mobility projects linked to the PNRR and has long since begun to provide infrastructures and services to many Italian municipalities wishing to create their own charging infrastructure network and autonomously manage activities related to vehicle sharing. A need strongly felt also by companies that need to move towards electric mobility and are finding an answer to their needs in On Charge.
There is a great wave generated by the European Green Deal and concretely declined by the NRP. On Charge therefore intercepts a need, the need to concretely proceed with the electrical transition. But the real issue is that electric mobility must also be applied to small towns – with 10 million residents in low-density or rural centers, equal to 16.4% of the total, Italy is the European country with the highest incidence of inhabitants who live in sparsely populated centers – and there is a push from below to bring electricity even outside the big cities.
On Charge has the potential to grow significantly and to do so immediately. Created in 2018, the company will complete the installation of 480 charging points by the end of this year. It already has the authorizations for a further 1360 charging points that will begin installations at the beginning of 2023. It will install over 4500 charging stations by 2026, of which 50% fast columns with 50/150 kw power and 100 ultra fast HCP with 300 power. kw. Of these 4000 will be activated at the end of the same year. On Charge will thus gain a significant market share in Italy.
