Nominations for the next Oscars have been revealed: while waiting to discover the winners during the awards ceremony on 25 April, the nominations for the most coveted awards in the world of cinema have been announced.
There will also be Laura Pausini for “Io Sì (Seen)”, the original song from the film “Life in front of himself” by Edoardo Ponti, composed by Diane Warren, who has already obtained the Golden Globe in the same category and now hopes to raise even the most important statuette of all.

Two nominations also for Matteo Garrone’s “Pinocchio”: best costumes and best make-up. In the main category – the one for best film – Chloé Zhao’s «Nomadland» starts in pole position, winner of the Golden Lion at the last Venice Film Festival, the Golden Globe for best drama film and numerous other awards. In the second row we find “Mank” by David Fincher (who set the record for nominations with 10 nominations) and “Minari” by Lee Isac Chung, while the other candidates are “Promising Young Woman” by Emerald Fennell, “Sound of Metal” by Darius Marder, Florian Zeller’s The Father, Aaron Sorkin’s Chicago 7 Trial and Shaka King’s Judas and the Black Messiah. Chloé Zhao could also become the second woman (after Kathryn Bigelow for “The Hurt Locker”) to win the Best Director award. It should be noted that for the first time there are two women nominated in this category: the second is Emerald Fennell for «Promising Young Woman». The five are completed by David Fincher (“Mank”), Lee Isac Chung (“Minari”) and Thomas Vinterberg (“Another round”).

For best leading actor, a great match between the late Chadwin Boseman (“Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”) and Gary Oldman (“Mank”), both extraordinary in their respective films, while further back in the odds are the other three contenders Riz Ahmed ( “Sound of Metal”), Steven Yeun (“Minari”) and Anthony Hopkins (“The Father”). Even more uncertain will probably be the statuette for best actress with Andra Day (“The United States vs. Billie Holiday”) and Frances McDormand (“Nomadland”) in the front row. The other performers nominated are Viola Davis (“Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”), Vanessa Kirby (“Pieces of a Woman”) and Carey Mulligan (“Promising Young Woman”. As Best Supporting Actor, Daniel Kaluuya (“Judas and the Black Messiah “), already awarded at the Golden Globe in the category, while the predictions are wide open for the title of best supporting actress: the candidates are Maria Bakalova (” Borat – Sequel of film cinema “), Glenn Close (” Elegy americana “), Olivia Colman (” The Father “), Amanda Seyfried (” Mank “) and Youn Yuh-jung (” Minari “).
The other nominations
He also aims to triumph at Pixar’s “Soul” Oscars (after Golden Globe successes) in the categories for Best Score, Best Soundtrack and Best Animated Film. Best Original Screenplay could go to Aaron Sorkin for “The trial of Chicago 7”, while the statuette for the best non-original script to Kemp Powers for “That night in Miami”. In the group of the best international film, the forecasts see the Danish winner “Another round” by Thomas Vinterberg, but attention also to the Romanian «Collective» by Alexander Nanau. The latter is also among the favorites in the category of the best documentaries, five in which Gianfranco Rosi’s “Notturno” failed to enter.
