SETYØURSAILS
Bad Blood
(Post-Hardcore | Metalcore)

Format: (LP)

Release: 12.04.2024

The SETYØURSAILS, founded by singer/shouter Jules Mitch, obviously set their eponymous sails in the storm, or probably created it themselves on their third longplayer “Bad Blood”. And even though the entire rhythm section had to be replaced since the second album, they stand still The signs are good that the Cologne post-hardcore group is playing its way into the top league.

“Bad Blood” is a half-hour tour de force and not only has a lot to offer, but also offers a lot of details due to its complexity. The opener and title track already make a clear statement. “Bad blood!“ Jules shouts skillfully, then drifts into fat riffs and tight rhythms, even half-rapping, and it’s fitting that Adrian Estrella from ZEBRAHEAD, a real professional in the sector, is involved. Interesting synths buzz in the background while the two scream their vocals at each other. Breathers? None! Even if the pleasant refrain, almost radio-friendly, catches your ear, there is no time to cool down, because it wants to be sang along loudly.

“Best Of Me” then brings things down with more electronic effects and a pounding rhythm. The singing is also provided with effects, varying from creative, crazy and crazy to brutal to angelic. A hymn as written in the book. Despite the catchy chorus, it’s not easy for the listener, even in the contracted “TFMF”, but “Halo” is a real hit for the stage and in the rocking “Lately” the frontwoman once again brings out the gold throat and shows why FUTURE PALACE and ANNISOKAY happily took the band with them on tour. The poppy “Bad Company” then invites you to jump and sing along, “In My Head” once again skilfully mixes heaviness and catchiness and “Heart Attack” relies on a slightly kitsch tone and suitability for the stadium, before you get it all again with “Eternally”. shows important facets and provides another hit candidate.
