One of the largest active volcanoes in the world, the Kilauea, erupted again this Wednesday June 7 in Hawaii and offered a spectacle of incandescent lava that caused concern in the local scientific community due to the emission of toxic volcanic gases.
Fissures opened at the base of the crater, as can be seen in aerial images. Volcanologists rated “dynamic” the eruption of this volcano who frequently wakes up.
Scientists from the United States Geological Survey reported that this Wednesday morning they began to detect activity, although restricted to the limits of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, and far from urban centers.
“High levels of volcanic gas are the main hazard concern, because they can be distributed with wind currents”the service said.
“As the sulfur dioxide comes off the summit, it will react in the atmosphere to create the visible haze known as vog (volcanic smog) that has been observed in the lee of Kilauea,” reported the United States Geological Survey.
This volcanic smog can cause respiratory problems in people and animals, and affect cropsthe department explained.
The rash can also cause Pele’s hair. These basalt glass strands, which can measure up to two meters, can irritate the skin and affect vision.

The eruption occurs months after its large neighbor, the ‘Long Mountain’delighted observers with an impressive spectacle.
The world‘s largest volcano erupted for the first time in four decades late last year.with lava fountains up to 60 meters high, and emanated rivers of molten rocks.
Kilauea is smaller than Mauna Loa, but much more activeand often wows tourists who take helicopter tours to see these glowing lava shows on the Big Island of Hawaii.
It is one of the six active volcanoes in the United States. It has erupted almost continuously between 1983 and 2019.
