This Monday, March 4, the ritual called Last First Day of School (UPD) is carried out in some parts of Neuquén. Like what happened in 2023, Island 132 is one of the chosen sites. A special operation is deployed. One of the particularities of this year is that today, at the beginning of the school year, there will be a strike by the ATEN teaching union, which adhered to the measure called by Ctera.
The Secretary of Emergencies and Risk Management of the province of Neuquén, Luciana Ortiz Luna, announced that a control and prevention operation will be carried out throughout the night on the occasion of the UPD. She pointed out that the coastal area is one of the places where police officers, Transit personnel and the SIEN are deployed.
The UPD is a ritual among adolescents who begin their last year of high school. The tradition focuses mainly on excessive alcohol consumption the night before the beginning of the school year. This is one of the concerns that arises among parents.
Luuciana Ortiz Luna indicated during a broadcast on Instagram that the objective of the operation during the students’ ritual is “to help ensure that our young people do not have any situation to regret.”
And he added: “We do it so as not to have emergency situations with something on the road, we are not going to stop the party, but if you drink, don’t drive.”
He pointed out that breathalyzer tests will be carried out and that the personnel involved in the operation will visit, during the early hours of the morning, different parts of the city where the teenagers are gathered.
Last year, the favorite place for the celebration was the Paseo de la Costa, where there were riots and the police had to intervene. In addition, more than 1,500 students were registered at the site in the operation.
Health personnel also intervened due to intoxicated young woman
Some UPD celebrations were held in classrooms, with adult supervision.
