British movie star Damian Lewis, known for his roles in popular series such as “Band of Brothers”, “Homeland”, and “Billions”, recently opened up about his childhood as a Liverpool fan and shared some of his unforgettable memories of iconic matches.
Growing up in a family where his father was a rugby fan and his grandmother supported Everton, Lewis found his passion for Liverpool football club during the 1970s. Recalling his childhood heroes like Steve Heway, Jimmy Keyes, and Kenny Dalglish, Lewis reminisced about the Reds’ dominance in both domestic and European football during that era.
Lewis also shared his experiences of watching important games, such as the epic comeback against AC Milan in the 2005 Champions League final. He vividly remembers the tense atmosphere in a London pub where he watched the game, and the exhilaration of witnessing Liverpool’s historic victory.
Aside from his acting career, Lewis is also focusing on his music career and is set to embark on a UK tour with his band. However, he will still be keeping a close eye on Liverpool’s games as Jurgen Klopp, the beloved Reds boss, prepares to step down at the end of the season.
Reflecting on Klopp’s decision, Lewis expressed his shock and gratitude towards the manager for his contributions to the club and the Premier League. He commended Klopp for bringing joy to Liverpool fans and leaving a lasting impact on the league with his charismatic personality.
