ROME – It is called “transport” and is the service that in every major sporting event guarantees the mobility of the stars, of the celebrities who come to attend the challenges and of the staff, for the entire duration of the event. The service is part of a commercial partnership with the organizers of the event and represents a beautiful international showcase for the brand that provides the necessary vehicles for all trips. Among the longest-lasting collaborations in this field, the one started by Peugeot with the tennis tournament of Roland-Garros (one of the four of the Grand Slam), active for 38 consecutive years, stands out.

But the real news is that for this year’s edition (scheduled until June 13) the lion brand has made a fleet of 162 green vehicles available, making the French Open the first world-class sporting event in be associated with fully electrified mobility. The fleet, made up for two thirds of plug-in hybrid models and one third of 100% electric models, has a decidedly low environmental impact: average CO2 emissions per vehicle are equal to 22.7 grams per kilometer and are 7, 5 times lower than in 2019. “The composition of the 100% electrified fleet that we make available to the organization of the Roland-Garros tournament demonstrates our common concern to invest with determination in the energy transition – explains Linda Jackson, general manager of the Peugeot brand – In two years, Peugeot has dramatically accelerated the introduction of low-carbon, zero-emission vehicles. By the end of this year, 70% of the vehicles in our range will be electrified. And by 2025, the entire range of Peugeot vehicles will be electrified ”.

All vehicles in the fleet are then distinguished by the Roland-Garros badge, the new Peugeot logo and the wording “official partner”, while the sticker with the claim “Move to electric” addresses an invitation to the public to be an active part of the energy transition.

“The Peugeot brand has associated its values - need, charm and emotion – with the world of tennis for almost forty years – added Linda Jackson – We are particularly proud and happy to present our new logo to hundreds of millions of viewers of all continents on the occasion of the Roland-Garros tournament ”. Champion Novak Djokovic, number one in the world rankings and ambassador of the Peugeot brand, will also show off the new lion brand on his polo shirt, in all the passionate challenges on the clay courts of Roland-Garros where he triumphed in 2016.
