Among them, Zhao Xiujun, a renowned Peking Opera performer and leader of the Tianjin Youth Peking Opera Troupe, has been at the forefront of perfectly conveying the cultural essence of Peking Opera.
Zhao Xiujun, a prominent Peking Opera artist and a Tsing Yi actor of the Zhang School, has been instrumental in showcasing the art and culture of Peking Opera. With an impressive repertoire of classic and contemporary plays, she has dedicated over 40 years to honing her craft and leaving a lasting impact on the world of Peking Opera.
Hailing from the Zhang (Junqiu) sect of Yizong, Zhao Xiujun has studied under esteemed mentors such as Li Jinqiu, Zhang Xuehua, and Cai Yinglian. Her dedication and talent led her to become a student of the legendary Peking Opera artist, Zhang Junqiu, in 1993. Her commitment to the art form has resulted in her mastery of numerous Zhang School plays, showcasing her depth of talent and skill.
Zhao Xiujun’s journey in Peking Opera has been marked with numerous accolades and milestones. From representing the Tianjin Peking Opera community at the commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the Hui Troupe’s entry into Beijing to being recognized as the 16th Chinese Drama Plum Blossom Award recipient, her career has been a testament to her unwavering dedication and talent.
