Antibiotics, Aifa: consumption in Italy is falling but it is still too high

The use of antibiotics is decreasing in Italy, especially in the North, but the prescriptions are always too many compared to those of many European countries. In international comparison, a greater use of broad-spectrum antibiotics emerges in our country, which have a higher impact on the development of antibiotic resistance. And the use of antibiotics indicated for the treatment of infections caused by multi-resistant microorganisms is growing in hospitals.
