Boom in births in hospital in Pontedera, 10 babies in 24 hours – Healthcare

Baby boom at the ‘Lotti’ hospital in Pontedera where in the last 24 hours – from the night of 9 April to the night of 10 April – 10 children were born, six boys and four girls: Noar, Noel, Tommaso, Alessandro, Federico, Rebecca, Camilla, Anahat, Martino, Nday Fatou and then, shortly after, at 10.35 this morning, Stella was added. This was announced by the ASL Toscana Nord Ovest in relation to a hospital where in 2022 there were 740 births, and in 2023 another 744, for a daily average of just over two newborns per day.
For this ‘marathon’ in the obstetrics and gynecology maternity ward, the director of the facility Martina Liut and the coordinator of the midwives Barbara De Santi thank the doctors, midwives, nurses and social health workers (Oss) who “in these hours have had a lot to do but they demonstrated their usual competence and availability.”
“These are moments of great emotion for all of us – says the obstetrics and gynecology staff – because the fatigue linked to the intense pace of work is combined with the joy of these new born babies who are entering the world“. These 10 deliveries in 24 hours represent further confirmation of the citizens’ trust in the “Lotti” hospital, which also confirms its attractiveness. It is a signal that leads to optimism for the future, despite the period of widespread demographic decline at a national level and the reduction in births recorded in most territories.
