Scalapay teams up with Shopify to scale its international presence. The Italian start-up of “b uy now pay later” becomes part of the Shopify payments platform, to allow more and more merchants to offer the possibility of purchasing goods and services in three installments and without interest to their consumers.
The entry into the platform involves the integration of Scalapay between the payment systems offered during the checkout phase by Shopify and will allow the sellers who will activate the service to provide a smooth payment experience and thus grow their sales.
Born in 2019, Scalapay is an Italian unicorn who has raised over $ 700 million in funding to date at a valuation of over $ 1 billion. Shopify is a global player in providing IT infrastructure for commerce that offers tools to start, manage and grow a business of any size.
The “buy now pay later” trend is a rapidly growing trend, also confirmed by the data. According to a recent survey by Shopify, 60% of Italians are influenced by the possibility of paying in installments when they choose to buy a product or service or not. Between August and October 2021, the share of Shopify stores offering deferred payment plans increased by 57% from the previous three months.
In line with the Bnpl philosophy, Scalapay enables users to make a pleasant and quality purchase, having, however, the possibility of deferring the payment in three interest-free installments. For the merchant, offering the option to pay in installments increases the average cart by 48% and the conversion rate by 11%. It also promotes the retention of existing customers and the acquisition of new ones.
