Covid, if AI helps to understand who will have severe symptoms

Artificial intelligence has made it possible to recognize early on, among some people infected with the coronavirus, who would have developed more serious Covid-19 forms. The algorithm, developed by the Charité University Hospital in Berlin, identified 14 proteins – biological signatures of the disease – in patients’ blood, most frequently associated with worsening and death. The results, published on Plos Digital Health, are still initial and obtained on a small sample of participants; however, the research – one of several in this vein – provides further evidence of how AI may provide medical support in the future.
