by admin

Bologna, 17 June 2021 – “The Delta variant in Emilia Romagna still has very low percentages. Last week we were 15 cases out of over a thousand sequences. This variant does not seem to be running with high percentages at the moment but we will continue to monitor ”. This was stated by the regional councilor for health, Raffaele Donini, in an online press point on the Covid-19 pandemic.

The data The bulletin of June 17

The closer the goal of immunizing the entire population comes closer, the more the Region strengthens its commitment to the vaccination campaign: by the end of the summer, it will be reached with reasonable certainty. 70% threshold of citizens who have been injected with at least the first dose, that is to say the ‘community protection’ indicated as an objective also by the Government.

Donini took stock of the vaccination campaign in Emilia Romagna, which with over 3.3 million administrations carried out and 1.15 million citizens completely immunized with even the recall, can be considered well beyond the halfway point.

To date, over 2.2 million Emilia-Romagna have received at least the first dose, that is to say 55.1% of the target population, and another 500 thousand already have an appointment fixed by the end of August.

In addition, another 200,000 vaccinations are planned in the area 22 corporate hubs currently operational from Piacenza and Rimini, and to these must then be added those, not yet quantifiable, which will be carried out by family doctors and by other professionals in the field of so-called ‘integrated’ vaccination.

Numbers that allow you to reach the minimum result of 2.8 million protected citizens at least from the first dose, and concretely approach the goal of exceeding 3 million, which would mean 80% of those entitled.

AstraZeneca vaccine prohibited to under 60s

“We do not administer Astrazeneca (as well as the other viral vector vaccine J&J, ed), as indicated by the Government, to the vaccinable population under the age of 60 ”. The commissioner clarifies this Raffaele Donini. No AstraZeneca in Emilia-Romagna, not even for those under 60 who ask for it voluntarily, he specifies.

“In Lazio as far as we know there is a request to the government on this”, not yet an effective method. For now in Emilia Romagna no one under 60 refused the vaccine mix, with the second Pfizer or Moderna dose.

“Maybe there are also quite in-depth conversations with doctors undergoing medical history in vaccination centers. But we have no news of these refusals and there is no administration also on a voluntary basis ”, explained Donini.

Vaccines also in pharmacies

And to ensure all these administrations as quickly as possible, the Region has also involved the pharmacy, already protagonists of epidemiological screening campaigns with rapid swabs. The agreement between the Department of Health Policies and the most representative trade associations of pharmacists is in the final stages, and will allow all citizens to enjoy the opportunity to get vaccinated in what are the most numerous and widespread health centers on the territory.

“First Region in the relationship between delivered and administered doses”

“Today is a turning point in our vaccination campaign: anyone who has requested it has obtained the date, place and time of administration – said the commissioner Donini -. For the past two weeks we have been running on battery all reservations for all age groups, in a staggered manner so as not to clog a computer system that has held up very well. We have given priority to the school age population, that is 12-19 year olds – he continues -, to complete the immunization cycle before school starts and to strengthen safety in the classrooms and among the desks after having vaccinated most of the staff ” .

We want to achieve this as soon as possible, compatibly with the doses we will receive, also thanks to the help of health professionals with whom people have a more trusting relationship, family doctors and soon also pharmacists who will surely be able to help us in the recover many people who have not yet decided to get vaccinated ”.
