Fair, last day of the health center: “Extraordinary example of collaboration”

by admin

The emotion, in the eyes of those who helped keep this miracle alive for 482 long days, is actually a mix of very strong sensations. The Bergamo Fair today fulfills its mission as a health center, after having gone through all the phases of the pandemic, helping to save hundreds of lives and restore hope to tens of thousands of Bergamo people who have been vaccinated here since the end of January. Today is the last day. From tomorrow it will return to its function as a showcase of Orobic work and resources, but the impression is that nothing will be the same again. In the last 16 months, a health page has been written at the Fair that will remain etched in these pavilions, as well as in the memory of the people of Bergamo and beyond. It is the day to take stock, to close an important chapter in the fight against Covid, but also to look forward. “We have done something extraordinary, an experience that has showcased so many important resources, to the point of becoming the third hospital of Pope John XXIII”. Even the voice of the general manager of the hospital, Maria Beatrice Stasi, cracks with emotion after the group photo with the collaborators who worked here for months, first in the field hospital assembled by Alpine troops, artisans, volunteers and Atalanta fans in just one week, then in the pavilion set up for tampons and vaccines, of which 206,000 doses were administered.
