Saving Lives: Vital Pulse Program in Recoletas Zamora Making a Difference

The rural health program Vital Pulse, created in Recoletas Zamora, took center stage at the School of Medicine at the University of Valladolid on Thursday. The Managing Director of Recoletas Salud in Zamora, Oscar Iglesias, and the head of Cardiology at the Recoletas Salud Zamora Hospital, Dr. Jose Luis Santos, participated in a series of conferences titled “Neither science, nor letters, but quite the opposite” organized by the School of Doctorate at the University of Valladolid.

They presented the strategy of Vital Pulse for the prevention of stroke through early detection of atrial fibrillation from different perspectives at the amphitheater of the Faculty of Medicine. They emphasized the importance of cardiovascular prevention and highlighted how the program has made Zamora a cardioprotected province, ultimately saving lives.

The public attending the conference learned about the results achieved through the 60 health points established throughout the province of Zamora. These points offer quick and simple electrocardiograms to rule out atrial fibrillation. Since the project’s launch, over 40,500 electrocardiograms have been conducted, with Dr. José Luis Santos providing over 350 free consultations at Recoletas Salud Hospital in Zamora and the Medical Center Recoletas Salud de Benavente. More than 150 cases of atrial fibrillation were detected through these consultations, allowing individuals to receive treatment to reduce the risk of suffering a stroke.
