German Bundestag – European portfolio strategy has saved lives

Berlin: (hib/PK) According to the federal government, Germany, together with other EU member states, relied on a portfolio of various vaccine developments during the pandemic in 2020 and concluded contracts with eight companies to protect the population. The European portfolio strategy has protected citizens in millions of cases from severe infection with Sars-CoV-2 through early access to safe and effective vaccines, according to the federal government’s answer (20/9956) to a small question (20/ 9708) of the AfD parliamentary group.

Many lives have been saved in the EU and the pandemic has lost the significant threat potential it had in the first few months. The overall economic costs of the pandemic have also been significantly reduced and the effects on social life have been noticeably mitigated. Surpluses in vaccine deliveries are also a consequence of this strategy.
