The Pixel Fold, code-named “Pipit”, recently appeared in the GeekBench running sub-library. The running content shows that the machine uses an eight-core processor with a base clock of 1.8GHz and a peak clock of 2.8GHz. The GPU uses Mali G78. Based on these specifications, it is speculated that the chipset is a Tensor that was once equipped on the Google Pixel 6 series.

The SoC has two cores with a clock of 2.8GHz and two other cores with a clock of 2.25GHz, in addition to 4 efficiency cores with a clock of 1.8GHz. The list further shows that Google’s foldable phone has 12GB of memory under the body. It can be expected that this foldable phone will be equipped with 256GB or 512GB of internal storage space, and Android 12 system. Since Google has previously announced that it will launch Android 12L for large-screen devices or foldable phones, it can be expected that “Pipit” will have the same function.

Previous reports pointed out that the Google Pixel Fold project may be cancelled because the company believes that the market for foldable phones is fierce, and rivals such as Samsung have certain economies of scale, which may result in even greater costs for Google.

Regarding the Pixel Fold hardware specifications, the previous prediction was that the screen size is the same as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, and both use LTPO folding screens, which can reach 7.6 inches when unfolded and support a 120Hz screen refresh rate, but they will not have an under-screen lens. However, the lens module technology of Pixel Fold may not be the most advanced, even lower than the lenses of Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, and will still use the same IMX363 sensor as Pixel 3.
